Douglas Lynn Klouse, 72, a veteran of the Iraq War and long term resident of Carthage, entered into rest in Joplin, Missouri, on May 13, 2025 surrounded by family. Doug was born December 30, 1952, in Austin, Minnesota, to Anton Richard Klouse Jr. and Ruth Ilene “Wood” Klouse. Doug retired after serving 27 years as a E-5 Sargent in the Missouri National Guard, 203rd Engineer Battalion in Pierce City, MO and serving his county for 15 months during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Doug retired from AmeriCold Logistics after 20 years of service. He then worked at Meyers Park Apartments for four years, where he made many adoring friends as a maintenance technician. Doug was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Carthage for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 2590 of Carthage and the American Legion. He was known for always being a giver, eager to help in any way he could. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially wood. He honed his craft, building his wife a lovely she-shed. Doug had many hobbies, but his greatest joy came from spending time with family and playing with his grandchildren.

Doug was united in marriage to Patty “Bero” January 30, 1975, in Avilla, Missouri; She survives. Together Doug and Patty had two daughters, Jana and Meghan.

He is survived by his two daughters Jana Dunkle (Larry) of Carthage, Missouri, Meghan Henson (Chris) of Purcell, Missouri; One Brother, David Klouse of The Colony, Texas; one sister, Linda Buerge (Terry) of Grove, Oklahoma; Four Grandchildren, Alyson Henson, Emely Henson, Grace Dunkle and Charlie Dunkle.

Douglas was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Klouse, Donald Klouse and Doyle Klouse.

A Funeral Service will be held for Doug, Monday May 19th, 2025, 10 am, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage, Missouri.

Interment will follow at Park Cemetery with Military Honors.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on Saturday, May 24th from 6-8 pm at the Carthage VFW Post 2590, 16759 Inca Road, Carthage, MO.
